Harmonic generation of the FEL using NLO II

Description

Preliminary experiments for generating harmonics of the free electron laser by using NLO (nonlinear optical crystals) have been performed at LEBRA. We used BBO (β-BaB2O4) crystals for SHG (second harmonic generation) and FOHG (forth harmonic generation). Measured conversion efficiencies are about 30% for the SHG and about 10% for the FOHG between the fundamental wavelengths from 1.8 μm to 2.2 μm. The optimization of the optical system of the injection beam line is discussed. (author)
