Failure detection in power stations. Application to nuclear reactors
Description
The development and application of a technique for the automatic diagnosis system of a nuclear power station is presented. The aim of this study is to design a computerized system to detect a malfunction in the core of a nuclear power plant. After a review of anomaly detection methods, a diagnosis method based upon internal representation is chosen. This method is characterized by the use of a physical modeling of the nuclear core. A systematical investigation is achieved in order to retain the convenient structure of the mathematical model. A digital simulation of several identification algorithms is performed to obtain the most efficient one. An on-line identification method using sensitivity equations and generalized recursive least squares technique is developed. The diagnosis of a malfunction is obtained by comparing in real time the reference parameters value corresponding to a normal functioning to the actual value of an on-line identification scheme. An on-line computerized system, able to detect incipient failures, is designed. Applications, using real data, are given to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed technique

On a etudie les methodes de diagnostic automatique de pannes dans les centrales de puissance. On a voulu definir, dans le cadre de la surveillance des reacteurs nucleaires, un appareillage informatique capable de detecter les anomalies de fonctionnement dans le coeur de ces installations. Une presentation rapide des methodes de detection d'anomalies conduit a retenir les methodes de diagnostic interne qui sont basees sur la modelisation mathematique des phenomenes physiques. Quelques notions du fonctionnement physique des reacteurs nucleaires permettent alors de definir les structures des modeles retenus. Une etude en simulation numerique a permis de retenir les methodes d'identification de parametres les mieux adaptees; l'algorithme choisi tient compte du calcul de sensibilite des parametres a identifier et se sert de la version recursive de minimisation au sens des moindres carres. L'application de cette methode d'identification de parametres permet d'obtenir un algorithme de detection a partir des comparaisons des mesures relevees sur le processus et des grandeurs equivalentes calculees par le modele de surveillance (modele hors-ligne) et celui de detection (modele adaptatif). On definit alors un ensemble informatique, travaillant en temps reel, capable de donner les alarmes necessaires des qu'un debut de mauvais fonctionnement est localise.
