Nonlinear effects on propagation of surface magnetostatic waves in yttrium-iron garnet films in weak magnetic fields

Description

Some features of the propagation of surface magnetostatic waves in yttrium-iron garnet (111) films are investigated experimentally in weak tangential magnetic fields H0 and in the 200 MHz to 3 GHz frequency range. The dependence of attenuation of waves traversing the film on their intensity P at the input and also on the orientation of H0 with respect to the crystallographic axes in measured. The results are interpreted as being a manifestation of one- and two-stage decay processes which are appreciably affected by magnetic anisotropy of the film. A confirmation of the viewpoint is the anisotropic effect of appearance of new exiting waves with frequencies differing from that of the initial wave
