The giant dipole resonance in hot nuclei

  • 1. Niels Bohr Inst., Copenhagen (Denmark)
  • 2. Milan Univ. (Italy). Physics Dept.

Description

A consistent picture of the giant dipole resonance in hot nuclei is presented, in terms of general arguments of sum rules, and of the interplay with the fluctuations of the nuclear surface. The same concepts are useful to understand the optical response of metal clusters. (author)
