Description

Powder neutron diffraction using the Rietveld profile refinement method modified for time-of-flight data was used to investigate the structure of the distorted perovskite, NaUO3 (space group Pbnm; a = 5.779(4), b = 5.907(3), and c = 8.283(4) angstrom). The octahedron of oxygen atoms around the pentavalent uranium atom in this compound is slightly distorted with four of six oxygen atoms at 2.152 angstrom and the other two at 2.145 angstrom
