Detection device for failed fuel elements in a nuclear reactor
Description
Purpose: To enable fuel inspection and FBR type reactors or the likes in the course of fuel transportation passage, without giving effect on the atmosphere in the reactor. Constitution: A fuel inspection tank out side of a reactor in a closely shield structure is disposed in the midway of a fuel transportation passage outside of the reactor. A gas extraction line including and inert gas supply line and a vacuum pump is connected to the inspection tank. Further, a radioactivity measuring monitor is connected to the gas extraction line. Nuclear fission products leaked from the failed fuels to the inside of the inspection tank are introduced by using an inert gas as a carrier to the radioactivity measuring monitor to perform failure detection.
