Experimental simulation of gamma spectra of fission product mixtures

Description

A method is described for simulating gamma spectra of fission product mixtures by using gamma sources. The method has been used for experimental verification of radiation field calculation results obtained under idealized conditions, and for other investigations in the field of radiation protection measuring technique. Twelve radionuclides with half-lives greater than 1 month (with the exception of 140La) have been used. Taking into account appropriate activity ratios these radionuclides represent the essential parts of the gamma spectra for the range 1 day to 1 year with an error of 5 per cent. Pulse height distributions and time course of the exposure rate of the simulation agree with those of the fission product mixture
