Description
The backbending of three neighboring rare-earth nuclei (Er-Yb-Hf) with their isotopes has been studied through the cubic polynomial (CP) theoretical model. Also, from the experimental data the nuclear moment of inertia θ (I), and the squared rotational frequency ω 2(I) [as (θ - ω 2)plots of a backending], in addition to the relation of excitation energy Ex, and the total angular momentum I(I+1) [as Ez, -I(I+1) plots], have been studied at high angular momentum in nuclear reactional bands. The rotational nuclei were divided into soft and hard rotors by studying the softness S as function of the ratio R4 =E(4)/E(2). The effective moment of inertia θ for these nuclei was considered. We expected that there may be a backbending for nuclei of N ≅ 98, but with higher angular momentum than that expected before, by studying the variation of Ic (Ic+1) with the neutron number
