Particle production in high-energy reactions and studies in a gauge model

Description

In a gauge field model of weak and electromagnetic interactions, based on the gauge group SU(2)/sub L/ x SU(2)/sub R/ x U(1), the weak correction to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon is calculated. The experimental bounds on this quantity fail to constrain the mass of the neutral boson or the heavy neutral lepton. The calcuation is done in a general gauge, and use of Slavnov-Taylor identities enable all the gauge dependence before the loop integration is performed. The production of a Higgs bosons and neutral vector mesons in neutrino and antineutrino scattering is calcuated. The decays V → μ+μ-, H → μ+μ-, and H → c anti c → μ+μ-X are added to study the consequent trimuon events. The possibility of observing the Higgs boson production in neutrino scattering is discussed. Also, the production of rho0 in e+e- colliding beams, up to the energies corresponding to PEP and PETRA, is calculated. The decay rho0 → π+π- is added, and lepton and pion distributions are presented. It is not possible to attribute the three-prong events observed at DELCO and PETRA to this production mechanism
