Investigation of boron nitride polycrystals by method of conversion electron Moessbauer spectroscopy

Description
The samples of hexagonal pyrolytic (h-BN) and sphalerite (c-BN) boron nitrides synthesized from h-BN by means of direct phase transformation were studied by method of conversion electron Moessbauer spectroscopy (CEMS). 57Fe isotope was incorporated into the material by diffusion in vacuum. It was established that thermal diffusion of 57Fe isotope allows to receive CEMS spectra from boron nitride samples. Deconvolution of spectra showed that some of h-BN exists in c-BN. Relatively low broadening of spectral lines in CEMS spectra are indicative of quite insignificant disordering of c-BN crystalline lattice after 57Fe incorporation. (author)
