Radiative proton capture into the nuclei pairs 16O/17F and 28Si/29P at 20-80 MeV

Description

Similarities in the differential cross-sections and analyzing powers of transitions in the pair of reactions 11B(p,γ)12C and 12C(p,γ)13N have been observed in earlier research. A model has been proposed which explains these effects, and predicts that they should also be seen in radiative proton capture into other pairs of closed-subshell and closed-subshell-plus-one-proton-nuclei. In this work the pairs of nuclei 16O/17F and 28Si/29P are examined using radiative proton capture over an incident proton energy range of 20 to 80 MeV. A generalized direct-semidirect model is presented to predict cross-sections and analyzing powers for the transitions under study. In general, the predictions of the model are shown to be in good agreement with the experimental results presented here
