Dynamical chaos and self-organization of particle motion in a strong standing wave

Description

The motion of charged particles in a field of a strong standing wave is investigated numerically in a wide range of the wave amplitude and dissipative parameter variation. The presence of dissipation is shown to result not only in a stochastic heating of particles, but also in special acceleration regimes, when groups of particles move along stable periodic orbits. These regimes are followed by the formation of peaked structures of the distribution function
