Production of radiopharmaceuticals in India
Description
Salient features of four types of radiopharmaceuticals currently in use i.e. (i) primary medical isotopes (ii) labelled pharmaceuticals compounds (iii) nuclide generators or milking units and (iv) in-vitro diagnostic agents are outlined. Production of iodine-131 is described in detail. Quality control of these materials and their importance are explained. The current status of production of radio-pharmaceuticals at the Isotope Division of the Bhbha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay is mentioned. (K.B.)
