Study of the excited states of 28Si using the 27Al(p,γ)28Si radiative capture

Description

The gamma decay of 28Si levels excited in the 27Al(p,γ)28Si reaction has been investigated in the energy range Esub(p)<3,5MeV. Energies and branching ratio studies have been made, as well as mean lifetimes and gamma-ray angular distributions. Emphasis was given to measurements on several levels as possible candidates for the states of rotational bands arising from the SU3 classification. A part from the K=0+ rotational band based on the ground state, the SU3 previsions are not substantiated, but can not definitely rejected, and a few experiment are suggested. On the other band, many results are consistent with the shell model calculations

Abstract (French)

L'etude des etats excites du noyau 28Si a ete effectuee par l'intermediaire de la reaction 28Al(p,γ)28Si dans le domaine d'energie Esub(p)<3,5MeV. Des mesures d'energie, de rapports d'embranchements, de vie moyenne et de distributions angulaires de rayonnements gamma ont ete faites. Une attention particuliere a ete portee a certains niveaux susceptibles d'etre associes aux bandes de rotation prevues par la classification SU3 des etats de plus basse energie. Mis a part l'existence d'une bande K=0 basee sur l'etat fondamental, aucune des tentatives, pour mettre en evidence les bandes de rotation recherchees, n'ont abouti, mais les previsions n'ont pas ete ecartees et certaines experiences ont ete proposees. Les previsions du modele en couches avec melange de configuration ont ete souvent verifiees
