Preliminary estimation of additional nuclear back-end costs for Ignalina NPP
Description
Additional nuclear back-end costs were estimated for two Ignalina NPP shutdown scenarios: unit 1 in 2005, unit 2 in 2010 (scenario 2 and unit 1 in 2005, unit 2 in 2027 (scenario 4). Rad waste management costs (including disposal of spent nuclear fuel) for scenario 4 would be about 4.2 billion Lt and for scenario 2 - about 2.2 billion Lt. In the case of scenario 2 Ignalina NPP would cover 27% of total decommissioning costs and in the case of scenario 4 - 37% of these costs. (author)
