Description

Results of thermal investigation of ammonium and cerium (4) double sulfate, prepared under equilibrium conditions in system (NH4)2SO4-Ce(SO4)2-H2SO4-H2O at 100 deg C in the concentration range 20-40 mass% H2SO4 and mole ratio (NH4)2SO4:Ce(SO4)2=2:1, are presented. The character of thermal decomposition is confirmed by IR spectroscopy method. At and intermediate stage of thermal decomposition ammonium and cerium (3) double sulfate, then Ce2(SO4)3 are formed, the decomposition of the latter results in the formation of cerium dioxide
