Description

A method for fabrication of lithium orhtosilicate doped with Al3+ and P5+ in methanol is described. In addition the phase diagrams of the phases in question are explained. A reinvestigation of the subsystem Li2O - Li2SiO3 - LiAlO2 showed solubilities of Al3+ ions in Li4SiO4 which differs from literature data. Irradiation experiments showed that, solid solutions of the series Li4SiO2 -LiAlSiO4 have a better tritium release than pure orthosilicate. The other specimens, especially the P5+ doped ones revealed higher tritium retention. (author). 7 refs.; 3 figs.; 3 tabs
