A comparison of 2D and 3D calculations of beryllium block repositioning in Maria reactor

Description

Previously the poisoning of beryllium matrix in the Maria reactor by Li-6 and He-3 has been analysed for a 3D model case comprising a core fragment containing one row of beryllium blocks. In parallel the 2D calculations have been performed of beryllium block poisoning in Maria reactor during its operation from year 1975 till end of year 2000. In the present report the results of a comparison of 2D and 3D beryllium blocks poisoning for the model problem are presented as the necessary comment on the accuracy of 2D calculations. It can be seen that the 2D results are within the error bound of other model simplifications. (author)
