Clean-up device for hydrrphobic organic solvents

Description

Purpose: To improve the impurity removing performance and reduce the amount of secondary wastes in a device for removing impurities to clean-up spent hydrophobic organic solvents discharged in a nuclear power plant. Constitution: Spent hydrophobic organic solvents are transferred to a filtering device using hollow thread membranes. The filtering device comprises hydrophobic hollow thread membranes disposed at the center in a housing. The hydrophobic hollow thread membranes comprises a plurality of bundled hollow threads in which a plurality of polyethylene assemblies (microfibrils) are arranged in the longitudinal direction of the threads on the wall of the hollow threads and comb-like micropores are opened between the microfibrils. Liquids permeate through the micropores in each of the layers from the outer wall to the inner wall of the hollow threads. Sands, suspensions such as thread wastes, aqueous components such as sweats and water soluble components in the contaminated solvents introduced into the filtering device are eliminated by the hydrophobic hollow thread membranes and then discharged as the cleaned solvents and waste water.
