Spectrokinetic study of the oxidation of ammonia on MoO3

  • 1. Institute of Chemical Physics, Acad. of Sci., Moscow

Description

This study found an NH4+ complex on the Mo03 surface during the oxidation of ammonia. Without NH3 in the gas phase, the oxidation of NH4+ leads to the formation of N2 and N2O. In the presence of NH3 in the gas phase, the forming of N2 /SUP O/ proceeds through the formation of an NH4+ complex. Two reaction pathways were found for the generation of nitrogen. The kinetic parameters for the formation of N2 and N2 /SUP O/ were determined and the extinction coefficient of the surface NH4+ complex was calculated
