Short and symmetric pulse in double Q-switching Nd:GdVO4 1.34 μm laser with AO and Co2+:MgAl2O4 saturable absorber

Description
By using an acousto-optic modulator and a Co2+:MgAl2O4 saturable absorber, a diode-pumped double Q-switching Nd:GdVO4 laser at 1.34 μm was realized. The experimental results show that the pulse width is compressed and the pulse profile is symmetric at a certain extent when compared to the single Q-switching laser. At the absorbed pump power of 5.59 W and the AO modulation frequency (f) of 4 kHz, the shortest pulse width of 39.2 ns and the greatest peak power of 1.16 kW have been obtained.
