Description

It is very important to investigate the activation of structure materials and to estimate the lifetime of the first wall of a fusion breeder. The activation and irradiation damage calculation codes, FDKR and FWLC, have been developed for the fusion breeder and used to calculate the activation and irradiation effects on the first wall in a Tokamak Engineering Test Breeder (TETB-C). The results of calculation for one year's operation with 200 MW fusion power are given. The results show that the radioactivity of the first wall is 3.80x1018 Bq from activation products, which is 36% of the total activity from all activation materials. The maximum specific activity, 4.30x1012 Bq/cm3, occurs in the first wall. In this paper, calculations of the irradiation damage of the first wall were carried out using the FWLC code for different operating temperatures and irradiation times. A prediction of the failure period of the first wall is also presented under the operating conditions of the TETB-C fusion breeder. ((orig.))
