Facts on low intensity ionizing radiation

  • 1. European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). Dept. of Information
  • 2. International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna

Description

A brief review on the biological effects and the risks of low intensity ionizing radiation is presented. The short history of radiation protection and the theoretical basis of radiation protection is discussed. The question, if the relation between the risk and the dose is linear or not (for small dose) is studied in detail. The risk of low intensity radiation is compared to the other risks of our everyday life. (K.A.) 2 figs.; 1 tab
