An improved time-integrating radon monitor

  • 1. Department of Energy, New York (USA). Environmental Measurements Lab.

Description

A passive radon monitor was developed at the Environmental Measurements Laboratory two years ago for studies of ambient radioactivity. It provides a time-integrated radon concentration over one week at a sensitivity of 6 pCi-h.l-1. Improvements in the original model have increased both convenience and flexibility. Servicing the instrument in the field has been simplified, a smaller model has been constructed for more convenient use indoors, and a switching arrangement has been added enabling measurements to be obtained in a selected period during the day
