Description
In the development of non-oxide ceramics, like borides, with desired properties, the selection of type and amount of sinter-aid as well as the sintering conditions are important aspects of consideration. The present contribution reports the optimization of hot pressing temperature and amount of MoSi2 (0-10 wt. %) for achieving full densification of TiB2 materials. While the consolidation of the materials has been pursued using hot pressing technique, the microstructure of the obtained materials is characterized using XRD and SEM-EDS. Based on the obtained experimental results, it can be concluded that the newly developed TiB2-2.5 wt. % MoSi2 materials can be considered for high temperature structural applications
