Neutron scattering from N-oxy γ-picoline

  • 1. National Lab. for High Energy Physics, Tsukuba, Ibaraki (Japan)

Description

Neutron scattering experiments on N-oxy γ-picoline have been performed by using high energy-resolution spectrometer, LAM-80ET. An aim of this experiment was to check the performance of LAM-80ET and a feasibility on the observation of the rotational tunneling. By measurements on vanadium and N-oxy γ-picoline samples, it was confirmed that LAM-80ET has extremely high energy-resolution; ∼1 μeV by (002) reflection of the mica crystal analyzer; ∼5 μeV by (004); ∼15 μeV by (006). Very clear tunnel mode's peaks of N-oxy γ-picoline were observed at 60, 115, 190 and 274 μeV at 5 K. (author)
