Mobile anti#betta#sub(e) oscillation experiment

  • 1. California Univ., Irvine (USA). Dept. of Physics

Description

A mobile neutrino detector was designed and built for using in neutrino oscillation experiments performed at Savannah River Reactor. The detector containing 300 liters of Gd loaded liquid scintillator surrounded by 1100 liters of mineral oil based scintillator can be moved within a distance of 15 to 50 meters from the reactor core. The electron-antineutrino spectrum of reactor is to be measured using inverse beta decay process of neutron. The detector was completed and put in operation in September 1982. (D.Gy.)
