Modified management practices: a review and analysis of methods in Swedish forestry

To preserve biodiversity in the forest landscape there must probably be some modifications in the forest management. Some smaller parts of the forest land must get total protection from forest operations, while the major part can be managed the traditional way. In addition to these two ways of managing the forest, there is also the nature conservation-oriented forest management that can be considered as something between the two first mentioned. This managing strategy is adapted to conditions where it is desirable to imitate the natural processes that the forest was exposed to in the natural state.
