Crystal-field parameters of PrCl3 using the multiple-scattering-Xsub(α) method
Description
The multiple-scattering-Xsub(α) method is used to calculate the crystal-field parameters for Pr3+:LaCl3. The necessity of using more than one Watson sphere for highly charged clusters is discussed. The calculation shows that this multiple-scattering-Xsub(α) method can be applied successfully to the description of crystal-field effects in rare-earth ions in solids. (author)
