26Al/10Be method for dating of sediment core samples from Lake Baikal
Description
Several partial dissolution methods were examined with regard to their capability to selectively extract 26Al and 10Be from sediment core samples from Lake Baikal. Among the methods examined, the hydroxylamine (NH2OH) leaching method gave the most promising results of both the extraction efficiency of 10Be and the suppression of Al dissolution from the crystal lattice. In addition, a decreasing trend of 26Al could be observed along the first 100 m of the 200-m core of Lake Baikal sediments
