First measurement of efficiency and precision of CCD detectors for high energy physics
Description
The performance is reported of a telescope of three two-dimensional charge-coupled device detectors used in a test beam of 5 GeV/c π- at the CERN PS. The results indicate an efficiency for track detection of 98 +- 2% per plane, spatial resolution of 4.3 μm and 6.1 in two orthogonal directions and 2-track resolution of 40 μm in space. (U.K.)
