Description
Using ionizing and non ionizing radiation to obtain polymeric super-absorbents which have the swelling capacity between 100-800 gram/gram, mechanical resistance, 7 years of preservation in soils and an extremely reduced content in residual monomers (5 ppm) is described. It is used: - in soil management, environmental protection and work protection of radioactive, toxic, dangerous liquid substance manipulation, for treatment, recycling and storing in case of accidental spreading; - in treatment of solid waste (as mixed with polyurethane granules), as rolls, pillows or in bulk form (granules and powder), for interventions for oil and derivates recovery in case of accidental spreading on water or soil surface. We mention that these hydrophilic absorbents have been certified and licensed sanitarily for use. (author)
