Total phase change entropies and enthalpies An update on their estimation and applications to the estimations of amphiphillic fluorocarbon-hydrocarbon molecules

Description
A group additivity method developed to estimate the total phase change entropies and enthalpies of organic solids is updated and the results are compared to the fusion entropies and enthalpies of 547 new measurements. The method is expanded to also include estimations for 58 fluorinated compounds whose liquid phase at the melting point does not behave isotropically. The uncertainties associated with the 547 new measurements, ±18.6 J mol-1 K-1 for entropies and ±7.4 kJ mol-1 for enthalpies, are similar in magnitude to those reported previously. Errors associated with estimations for the 58 fluorinated compounds are 16.7 J mol-1 K-1 and 5.5 kJ mol-1, respectively
