Evaluation of environmental histories by ESR
Description
ESR (electron spin resonance) dating method utilizing the cumulative radiation effects has been developed to investigate environmental histories. A study using ESR microscope gave the distribution of radicals in a gypsum single crystal in lake sediments near the oldest Neolithic site in Turkey. Thermal history related to volcanic activities was also studied using quartz grains in metamorphic rocks. (author)
