Description

The experimental methods in elementary particles physics have been greatly improved about fifteen years ago by the introduction of Multiwire Proportional Chambers (MWPC). A MWPC is a poissonian electronic area detector which has an accurate bidimensional localization capability in detecting ionizing radiation. For this reason since its introduction it has received great attention for its possible application in the biomedical field. In this paper we summarize the results of several applications of MWPC to the biological and medical field which we are currently developing at the Pisa University, namely
