Description

The ambient dose equivalent around X-rays units used in dentistry has been measured. The radiation that escapes of the tail stock of the X-rays equipment was also measured, and the dose in the surfaces of a polyethylene spherical mannequin and other of water, used to represent the patient and the operator, respectively. The study was realized with thermoluminescent dosimeters of the type 100. The operation conditions of the X-rays units were varied when the ambient dose equivalent was measured. In the other measurements the equipment s were operated to 70 k Vp and 8 m A. In the ambient dose equivalent was found asymmetry, likewise the due dose to the radiation that escapes of one of tail stocks was also asymmetric. The dose values in the mannequins went minors to the recommended reference values. (Author)
