Characteristics of the flow of a two-temperature plasma of inert gases in an MHD channel

Description

The article gives an analysis of the characteristics of the flow of a two-temperature plasma of inert gases without the addition of alkali metals in an ideally sectionalized MHD channel of the Faraday type. It examines and compares the special characteristics of the flow of ionizationally-equilibrium and nonequilibrium plasmas. The values of the integral characteristics of the MHD channel are determined for the flow conditions under consideration. It is shown that, with the flow of an ionizationally nonequilibrium recombination plasma of pure inert gases, comparatively high values of the isentropic efficiency and the energy conversion coefficient can be obtained, not only for a homogeneous plasma, but also for a plasma in which ionization instability develops
