Multiple production of mesons in cosmic-ray high energy nuclear interactions

Description

The existence and the measurement of the physical properties of a fire-ball has been one of the main purposes of the emulsion chamber experiment. The methods of fire-ball analysis and SH-quantum observations are considered. 40 events of atmospheric interactions showing SH-quantum were found up to the time of conference. Statistics of energy and transverse momentum distribution of gamma rays and π mesons are studied. (BJ)

Der Nachweis der Existenz und die Messung der physikalischen Eigenschaften eines 'Feuerballs' waren die Hauptaufgaben des Emulsionskammer-Experimentes. Die Methoden der 'Feuerball'-Untersuchung und der SH-Quantenbeobachtung werden dargestellt. 40 Ereignisse von atmosphaerischer Wechselwirkung mit einem SH Ereignis wurden bis zum Zeitpunkt der Konferenz gefunden. Die Statistik von Energie- und transversalen Impulsverteilungen wird untersucht. (BJ)
