Myocardial perfusion SPECT in the assessment of left ventricular synchrony: the technical and methodological tips to obtain left ventricular synchrony data

Description

Imaging methods to assess left ventricular synchrony were developed with the aim of assessing dyssynchrony in order to resynchronize patients with heart failure, improve functional capacity and prognosis. Nuclear medicine developed phase analysis, an automated, reproducible technique that presents low inter- and intra-observer variability and allows to locate in a three-dimensional way where the left ventricular contraction begins and ends.The objective of this review is to learn the principles of the acquisition, processing and basic concepts of how of phase analysis software works for a correct interpretation of the left ventricular synchrony images. Abstract (Spanish)

Los métodos de imágenes para valorar la sincronía ventricular izquierda se desarrollaron con el objetivo de la evaluación de la disincronía con el fin de resincronizar a los pacientes con insuficiencia cardíaca, mejorar la capacidad funcional y el pronóstico. La medicina nuclear ha desarrollado el análisis de fase, una técnica automatizada, reproducible, que presenta una pequeña variabilidad inter e intra-observador y permite en forma tridimensional localizar dónde se inicia y dónde finaliza la contracción ventricular izquierda. El objetivo de la revisión del tema es conocer los principios de la adquisición, procesamiento y conceptos básicos del funcionamiento del software de un estudio de fase para una correcta interpretación de las imágenes de sincronía ventricular izquierda.
