Description

The technique for estimation of carbon diffusion in a welded joint of dissimilar steels, (particularly, 12Kh18N12T) 12KhIMF pair) in case when in both welded elements phase transformations occur: carbide decomposition in a less alloyed metal and their formation in a more alloyed metal. An inhomogeneity of the chemical composition in weld metal and heat affected zone is taken into account. The influence of the intermediate composition interlayer, formed in the joint in the course of metal mixing a welding bath, on the diffusion process is analyzed. It is shown that the observed effects of ''absence'' of decarburized interlayer and its accelerated subsequent growth can be explained by the presence in the welded joint of interlayer of intermediate composition
