Underground storage of radioactive wastes

Description
Underground disposal in deep geologic formation is the more suitable for waste containing radionuclide of long half-life. Alpha bearing wastes are encapsulated in cement or bitumen and high level wastes from reprocessing and containing fission products and actinides are vitrified. Thermal power of glass is determined as a function of time and storage time vs cooling time. Potential risks for radionuclide migration are evaluated. Transmutation sub seabed and space are evoked for future disposal
Abstract (French)
Le stockage definitif des dechets contenant des radioelements de periode longue peut etre fourni par l'enfouissement en profondeur dans une formation geologique. Les dechets alpha sont enrobes de ciment ou de bitumes tandis que les dechets de tres haute activite issus du retraitement et contenant les produits de fission et les actinides sont vitrifies. On determine la puissance thermique des verres en fonction du temps et le cout du stockage suivant le temps de refroidissement. On evalue le risque potentiel de migration des radionucleides. Enfin on evoque brievement les procedes futurs d'elimination par transmutation, dans le fond des oceans ou dans l'espaceAdditional details
