The Indian nuclear challenge: to counter the Pakistani escalate strategy
Description
The author analyses and comments the Indian nuclear policy by considering two contradictory problematics: on the one hand, India does not possess a sufficient deterrence capacity in front of China even though the deterrence relationship between both countries can be considered as steady, and, on the other hand, India possesses a mature nuclear deterrence capacity with respect to Pakistan but with an unsteady nuclear deterrence relationship due to the Pakistani escalate strategy which India is unable to counter in a satisfying way. Thus, India is looking for conventional military options which would remain under the Pakistani nuclear threshold
