Description
The role of Δ-nucleus dynamics in pion-nucleus scattering at intermediate energies is examined. The interplay between the pion, Δ and nuclear dynamics, as evidenced by consideration of the relevant length and energy scales, is discussed and the elements of the theoretical description of pion-nucleus scattering in the isobar approach are presented.
