An attempt to influence the damage induced by single and continuous irradiation by high potassium diet

  • 1. Univerzita P.J. Safarika, Kosice (Czechoslovakia). Katedra Vseobecnej Biologie

Description

Regarding the importance of potassium in the mineral metabolism and the physiological functions of the organism the modification of the postirradiation damage by the high potassium diet was studied. The survival and some haematological parameters in mice and rats irradiated with the wholy body single and continuous gamma irradiation from Co60 source were followed. The high potassium diet was found to increase the percentage of the survived irradiated animals and to support the postirradiation recovery of some haematopoietic functions. (orig./AJ)

Abstract (German)

(orig./AJ)
