Transfer coefficients of plutonium-239+240 in Tarapur environment, west coas t of India

Description
Concentrations of 239+240Pu in various sample matrices from the Tarapur coastal environment have been determined for 10y(1978 to 1987). 239+240Pu concentration factors(CF) in sediments, seaweed, and marine animals have been evaluated from annual average concentrations. Sediments show CF of the order of 103. The levels of Pu in the environmental matrices are so low that they do not present any radiation hazard to the general public. (author ). 7 refs., 2 tabs
