Device for the low-temperature electron irradiation
Description
A setup has been described for investigating the primary processes of the radiation liability or damageability of metals and alloys. The setup permits to carry out electronic radiation, annealing, and resistometric measurements of samples within the temperature range of 6 to 320 K. As a source of electrons, used is a pulse electronic gun having the accelerating voltage of about 30 kV, pulse duration of 2 ms, and the emission frequency of about 50 Hz. All the processes of specimen irradiation, annealing and measurement are carried into effect in a helium cryostat having a common vacuum with the electronic gun. The data of the investigation carried out into the kinetics of storing up the radiation defects in aluminium during the low-temperature (about 6 K) irradiation by electrons prove a high sensibility, good working capacity of the setup in examining the radiation damageability of metals
