KS-250 combined magnetic system with 25T induction

  • 1. Gosudarstvennyj Komitet po Ispol'zovaniyu Atomnoj Ehnergii SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Atomnoj Ehnergii

Description

A combined magnetic system setting up a magnetic field with the induction force of 25 T has been elaborated. A detailed description of the system construction is given. The magnetic field is set up by the external superconducting solenoid and the internal two-section water-cooled solenoid. The superconducting solenoid is arranged in the vacuum cryostat and is mounted together with the latter on a spring-loaded suspension. The relative position of the solenoids can be adjusted with the aid of the setting bolts. The tests and continuous operation of the magnetic system have proved its stability and reliability. The magnetic field with the induction force of 25 T is set up on the average within 15 min, with the increase of the superconducting solenoid current up to 1100 A
