Simple fabrication and characterization of thin-film niobium SQUID's working at 4.2 K
Description
We present here a new method to produce thin-film niobium SQUID's with an optimised LIsub(c)/PHIsub(o) ratio at any given temperature. This method is very simple and do not requires sophisticated or expensive apparatus. The SQUID's are fabricated from 1000 A thick cylindrical niobium films deposited on a 2 mm diameter and 20 mm long quartz substrate. The substrate is heated to 4000C and the niobium is evaporated using an electron gun in an ultra-high vacuum system (approx. <= 10-8 Torr). (orig.)
