Description
Two methods of producing heavy ring currents of relativistic electrons are described: a spiral method of electron accumulation in betatron-type facilities with a subsequent betatron-or synchrotron acceleration and producing limiting electron currents by means of electron injection from a heavy-current linear accelerator into a large aperture ring chamber and with the following synchrotron acceleration. A B-2S heavy-current pulse synchrotron and a B-3 pulse heavy-current betatron with spiral accumulation are described. An 80 MeV electron beam and a 0.5 A ring current (3x1010 electrons per pulse) have been obtained at the O-2S. Currents above 100 A at 50 MeV are planned to be obtained at the B-3. A BSB air-core one-loop heavy-current synchrotron is described. Its particular features are as follows: absence of betatron mode of acceleration, application of a high-voltage heavy-current injector for currents up to 200 A; use of one-turn capture by means of deflectors; greater cross section of the chamber. The BSB is supposed to be used at 150-200 MeV and at ring currents of several amperes as an injector into a storage ring. The design data on the B-3M heavy-current pulsed synchtrotron for electron energy of 350 MeV at a current up to 10 A are presented
