Effect of preamplifier's 1/f noise on the energy resolution of a particle bolometric detector

Description

A theoretical analysis on the effect of the front-end electronics on the energy resolution of a semiconductor bolometer when a voltage-sensitive or a charge-sensitive preamplifier is employed is carried out. The analysis is applied to GaAs MESFET preamplifiers, operating down to 1K. Experimental results obtained with the voltage-sensitive preamplifier as the front-end of a germanium bolometer glued on a 11g germanium absorber are shown. (author) 8 refs.; 11 figs
